Christmas 2008 continued....

After the fun last weekend we were in the Christmas spirit and really looking forward to visiting the rest of our family in Waynesboro and Bridgewater. Christmas morning was very similar to any other morning. After the girls woke up at 7:30am we took them downstairs to see all of the presents that Santa had left for them. They had so much fun with all of their new toys and our living room was a complete mess. How come as kids get older all of toys have to have so many parts? Jeremy fixed us all a breakfast of eggs, pancakes and bacon and we enjoyed playing with the new toys after breakfast with the girls. Jeremy thought we might be able to take a quick nap before getting ready to hit the road. Unfortunately, Kennedy and Ashlyn reminded him that it was too early for that!

Later that afternoon after we drove up to MiMi's and had a late lunch with family then headed over to Grandma McIntyre's for dessert and more presents. At home, our Christmas tree is located in another room than the girls play in so they do not have access to it. At Grandma McIntyre's they were fascinated with all of the lights and ornaments that were now within their reach. We tried to tell them "Hot" and "Don't touch" but trying telling a one year old not to do something is pointless and makes them want to do the opposite. Ashlyn listened to us better than her sister, as she would look at the tree and point at the lights. Kennedy on the other hand would wait until we weren't looking and try to grab something off. Sneaky little thing. While at Grandmas, cousin Tyler got out his Hot Wheel cars and started playing with them on the floor. After a few minutes we looked in the room and saw both Ashlyn and Kennedy pushing the cars around on the floor and trying to make "vroom" noises just like Tyler.

On Saturday we visited Great Grandma Miller at the Sunnyside Retirement Community. The girls had fun running up and down the halls of her building and entertaining all of her friends who stopped by to see "the twins". Kennedy even got a chance to sit on Grandma Miller's walker! Grandma Miller had to put the brakes on it though because with Ashlyn and Kennedy around who knows where they would have taken off to. That evening we spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Grogg in Bridgewater. They had extended family over for a large dinner. Later the evening even more presents were opened. The girls were getting the hang of how you open presents at this point and wanted to help everyone with the process. They even had become excellent at putting trash away in the trash bags. What great little helpers. After all of the presents were opened, Grandpa and Grandma G had one last gift for them each... their very own tricycle! You should have seen their eyes when they saw what was in the bag. They were both so excited and happy that they no longer have to share the old one we have at home! After the girls went to sleep Jeremy and I snuck out to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was such a good film, kinda of reminded me of Forrest Gump in a way. We caught the 10pm showing and with the film's running time being about 3 hours we didn't leave the theatre until after 1am. It was late but worth it! On Sunday morning we woke up and left after saying good bye to everyone. The girls enjoyed their trip and all of the Christmas presents. I am glad to get back home and get back to our normal routine. I love traveling and seeing family and friends over the holidays. But there is no place like home!
