Tis the season...

On Saturday afternoon we drove up to Richmond to visit with Mimi's side of the family for an early Christmas lunch. Joey, my cousin his wife Lara, and their daughter Megan hosted the event in their beautiful new home in Midlothian. By the time we arrived everyone was ready to eat and the girls were ready for their nap. Which actually was really nice timing because we were able to sit down and enjoy our meal in peace and converse with the other adults and family members that were there. This is a luxury for us now, to sit down and really enjoy a meal, most mealtimes with the girls are pretty quick. After their naps were over, Kennedy and Ashlyn had some time to explore the new surroundings and play with their cousin Megan who will be two in January. She isn't that much older than the girls so it is neat to watch them interact together. They had a blast in her play room and enjoyed the giant jumper that was set up for them. Here are a couple of photos from Saturday. Kim and Ron were in town and did a lot of their wedding planning and meeting of vendors for the event on May 9, 2009. Kara of course who lives in Richmond was there and Mimi came down for the event as well from Waynesboro.

After lunch was over we headed to Kara's house to open presents with Mimi. The girl's presents of course were the BEST! They got all kinds of new toys and items that they have been enjoying for the past couple of days. We decided to spend the night with Kara and her roommate Whitney so we wouldn't have to drive back home that same day. That evening the girls were pretty wound up and excited with all of their new gifts, so they were being big cheeses with the cameras. Whitney got some pretty cute shots of them acting crazy. At one point, Ashlyn was in the corner being really quiet, so we figured she was doing something that she shouldn't have been doing. As you can see, she got a hold of the window drawstring and decided to use it as a chew toy. Kara and Whitney did a pretty good job baby proofing before we arrived... but the girls are pros now at finding the baby proofed areas that are not covered. Kennedy was hamming it up for the camera as well. She enjoyed jumping and playing on the new sofa that Kara got her for Christmas. We enjoyed our trip but were tired on Sunday and I was glad that the girls are still taking two naps a day. Makes it easier for you to steal a nap in the afternoon as well. We will be off Christmas day after Santa arrives to go visit Jeremy's family over the weekend. I know that the girls are enjoying the holidays and seeing everyone and of course getting to open the new presents! Merry Christmas!
