Bye Bye Tooth

On Sunday after a trip to the grocery store Ashlyn was running around on the pavement and fell. At first she was crying and we thought that she had just bruised up her knees. Then, we realized that her mouth was bleeding. Thinking that she had bit her tongue or side of her mouth when she fell we opened it up to see where the blood was originating from inside of her mouth. Then, we realized that she landed on her tooth! Oh my goodness.... I think that I was more freaked out about her accident than she was. Once we put band aids over her knees (which is what she was crying about after the fall) Jeremy took her straight to the emergency room. While she waited there for about an hour watching tv in the room she playing with the remote and acted like nothing was wrong with her. She did repeatedly say that she had "rocks in her mouth" I can only assume that she was referring to the way that her tooth felt rough against her tongue. She was such a trooper and after leaving the ER she took a late nap and woke up still in a great mood. Ouch.... I can't believe that she didn't complain once about it.
On Monday, I took her to a pediatric dentist. Dr. Huie was awesome and she actually enjoyed visiting his office. He had arcade games and toys in the waiting room and all kinds of toys for the kiddos to look a while they waited for the Dr to see them in the chairs. Ashlyn's tooth was so broken that there was no chance of us saving it. So, after some laughing gas, and a shot of Novocain she watched Dora the Explorer as Dr. Huie carefully pulled the tooth. She was such a brave little girl and didn't cry once the entire time! Here is a photo of her while she is getting the laughing gas... she felt good!
My beautiful Ashlyn after her tooth was pulled. We saved the tooth and will expecting the tooth fairy to arrive this evening with some sort of special treat. Kennedy is also expecting a treat, I couldn't explain to her why she would not get one too. Although, Kennedy is not to thrilled about the thought of the tooth fairy. She keeps on saying that she doesn't want the tooth fairy to come and take her teeth. :-)
