Last night Ashlyn crawled into our bed and without Jeremy realilizing as he rolled over he pushed her out of bed and wham.... she fell into our side nightstand. :-( We both heard a loud thump and she said she hit her nose. So Jeremy held her and she fell asleep back in his arms. About 15 mins later I got up to take her back to bed and realized that her face was covered in blood (Jeremy realized that his shirt was also soaked in blood from where she was lying on him). So we took her into the bathroom, cleaned her off and tried to go back to sleep at least for a little while. The next morning her nose had pretty much stopped bleeding but was swollen and bruised. She however, was in great spirits and didn't complain at all. I dropped Kennedy off a preschool and took Ashlyn to the Doctor. Both girls were upset that Ashlyn was not going to be dropped off that morning with Kennedy. Kennedy didn't want to go without her sister and Ashlyn didn't want to go to the doctor. Kennedy was dropped off and her teacher said that she was visablly upset and stated "I have never been to school before without my sister". During her morning activities Kennedy made two of everything, one for her and one for Ashlyn. Her teacher even over heard her say "I love you Ashlyn" as she was working on her projects.
Back to Ashlyn, her appointment was not until 10am, so we ran a few errands prior to visiting the Dr. We saw an ambulance in one of the parking lots and Ashlyn said "They aren't going to take me away in that are they"? She was also very concerned about getting more shots. I had to convience her that no, she would not go away in an ambulance, no shots would be administried, and possibly she may get a sticker at the Dr office. That seemed to calm her down. The Dr looked at her and agreed that she had seriously bruised her nose and has recommended that we see an ear, nose and throat specialist for futher evaluations/xrays after the swelling goes down next week. We won't know more until then. So hopefully, it is just swollen, no broken noses please! Here is a photo of Ashlyn this morning. My poor baby- she is such a trooper!
*** UPDATE *** Ashlyn did break her nose. We took her to the ERN Children's Doctor in VA Beach and had it confirmed. Luckily for her, the break was minor and it should heal fine by itself! :-)
