On Thursday we attended the Yorktown YMCA's annual "FAM JAM" to raise money to purchase school supplies for needy local students. We met up with Jeremy that evening for a hot dog/hamburger dinner at the event. There were all kinds of carnival games, live music, and a blow up obstacle course for the kids. The girls enjoyed watching everyone and listening to the music. Ashlyn especially enjoys to dance (rock back and forth in her seat) and clap her hands to the music. Kennedy has discovered drinking out of cups... forget the sippy!
Anything that is in a "real" cup she wants and actually does a pretty good job drinking with some help. She is a little mooch sometimes and will not eat her dinner, she prefers food off of someone else's plate. I think it all started when Grandpa Grogg started to feed her his dinner a couple of months ago. She thinks that whatever is on our plate tastes a lot better no matter what it is.
Friday we ate lunch with Jeremy at Chik-Fil-a and then met some of our friends at the Williamsburg Yankee Candle Factory. Wow, if you have never been there before it is worth the visit. It is so much more than just a candle shop! The building is a size of a three story hotel- very impressive. Once inside, you are taken to the center of a quaint village complete with a cobblestone road, streetlights, blue skys overhead speckled with fluffy clouds, fountain, street venders, and centerstage is a huge animated town square clock that opens up every half hour to reveal lifesized animatronic mice that sing and tell a story. This place brings to mind going inside a Walt Disney World indoor attraction or an Epcot Resturant. There are different rooms- a toy room, candy room, an area where you can make your own fudge, candles and teddy bears. The Christmas room is by far the best. Every five minutes it snows from the ceiling! I heard that Santa Claus even makes an appearance, but we didn't get to see him while we were there. Check it out if you are ever in the area!
